Statewide News: New Funding Source for Climate-Friendly Transportation

We salute the Air Resources Board for the creation of the new Sustainable Transportation Equity Program (STEP). As Melanie Curry outlines in Streetsblog, STEP will award $2 million in planning grants and $20 million in implementation grants (for 1-3 communities) to applicants to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions from transportation.  Applicants will have to demonstrate deep and effective public engagement and inter-agency collaboration when increasing climate-friendly transportation options. While the list of eligible projects is still in formation, it is expected to include active transportation and transit.  The first call for projects is planned for early or mid 2020. Visit the STEP website to review more about the program and to register for future webinars.  Start thinking now about what you might want to apply for!
