The Safe Routes Partnership is pleased to announce the second in our three-part webinar series designed to encourage Californian jurisdictions to apply for Cycle 5 of the Active Transportation Program (ATP) and provide insight from applicants who were successful in previous cycles.
This Webinar, Writing a Compelling Statement of Need, will take place on April 2 at 2pm, and will focus on the Question 2 Part A of the ATP Applications, referred to as the Statement of project need, which is worth between and 10 and 26 points, depending on the application type. In particular, we will look at how to inform your project with local public health concerns, and convey that relationship in your answer.
The webinar will be moderated by California Senior Policy Manager Jonathan Matz. Panelists will be:
Meghan Pendrocelli, Program Analyst at the California Transportation Commission, who will go over the scoring rubric for this question, and what evaluators will be looking to see.
Bill Sadler, Director of Operations at the Public Health Alliance of California, who will introduce the Healthy Places Index (HPI, accepted as a statewide metric for Disadvantaged Community Status this Cycle) and which of its indicators are most illustrative for the question.
Tracy Bettencourt, Regulatory and Grants Manager at the City of Chico, author of two successful applications in Cycle 4, who will provide of an overview of how Chico used HPI and data from local and county health resources to answer the question.
