City of Ontario Showcases Proposed Projects for TCC Grant

In partnership with community stakeholder groups, the City of Ontario hosted a special site visit tour for the Strategic Growth Council (SGC) spotlighting efforts for their Transformative Climate Communities (TCC) proposal. The Safe Routes Partnership was included in a group of stakeholders who discussed elements of the application, including how the project will greatly benefit disadvantaged communities and reduce greenhouse gases in the area. The project elements include innovative affordable housing developments,  a community garden and active transportation infrastructure improvements. Ontario Connects - People Places Prosperity is the City of Ontario’s innovative project proposal for the TCC statewide competition and is among the finalists in the grant competition. Ontario and the city of Sacramento are competing for the third pot of funding from TCC; Los Angeles and Fresno are guaranteed funding from TCC but had to submit concept proposals as well. Decisions will be finalized by the SGC Council at their January 29, 2018 meeting, but staff recommendations will be available later this week
