Pushing for Climate Investments

In early May, California Senior Policy Manager Jonathan Matz joined our partners in the Sustainable Communities for All coalition (SC4A) in Sacramento to lobby state lawmakers for an equitable portfolio of investments from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). Among the programs SC4A would like to see funded from the GGRF this year are Urban Forestry and Urban Greening; the Low Income Home Weatherization Program; and transit passes for K-14 students in public education institutions.

Webinar Materials From Our January 17 AHSC Resources Webinar

On January 17, the Safe Routes Partnership’s California team hosted a webinar with LA Thrives, Enterprise Community Partners, LA County Bicycle Coalition, Housing California, California Bicycle Coalition and Southern California Association of Nonprofit Public Housing. The webinar provided tips and information on how to integrate active transportation infrastructure and programs with affordable housing developments for AHSC projects in LA County.

Coming Soon: 2017 Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities Competition

The Strategic Growth Council (SGC) has released the final version of the guidelines for the 2017 Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities program (AHSC). This program provides grants for transit-oriented development that reduces greenhouse gas emissions.  It focuses on increasing the accessibility of housing, jobs, and key destinations through walking, biking and transit.
