Demi Espinoza serves as the Senior Equity & Policy Manager, where she seeks to uplift environmental justice and transportation equity policy change by way of bringing more investments to walk and biking infrastructure. She works to enhance and improve regional transportation policies through programming and technical assistance, supporting transportation equity, data collection, and training opportunities for transportation officials. She monitors transportation policy trends, grant opportunities and engaged community partners within Orange County and the Inland Empire (Riverside and San Bernardino Counties) region. Demi is a co-chair for Active Transportation Networks in Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange Counties. The networks are critical veins for disseminating information and providing local technical assistance. She also leads in supporting and strengthening internal equity policies for the organization.

Demi is originally from Riverside, California and earned her B.A. in Sociology at Cal State San Bernardino. Prior to joining the Safe Routes Partnership, Demi worked on policy advocacy, working with a coalition of 20 community-based organizations of color elevating racial equity and environmental justice with the Coalition of Communities of Color. She has worked as a Regional Field Manager with Equality California in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties on LGBT equality issues. Demi’s current civic involvement includes serving as Board President for the Center for Community Action and Environmental Justice, as well as a Community Advisory Board member for Kaiser Permanente’s Research Bank. Demi is fluent in Spanish.
