Hawaii is one of twenty jurisdictions participating in the SRTS National Partnership Network Project. This initiative creates state networks that bring together advocacy groups, government agencies, and other leaders.

Managed by the Hawaii Department of Transportation (DOT), Hawaii’s federally funded Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program is the source for state coordinator contact details, federal SRTS funding amounts, SRTS applications and guidelines, and state SRTS program information.

Hawaii SRTS Program

Managed by the Hawaii Department of Transportation (DOT), Hawaii’s federally funded Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program is the source for state coordinator contact details, federal SRTS funding amounts, SRTS applications and guidelines, and state SRTS program information.

Hawaii SRTS Federal Funding

Hawaii’s SRTS funding from FY2005-2011* totals $6,499,192 and includes the following annual apportionments:

* Funding for SRTS is being continued into FY2011 at FY2009 levels.

Application Guidelines

Hawaii's non-infrastructure awards were announced in June 2008. Five projects were awarded funding for various education, enforcement, encouragement and evaluation activities.

Hawaii’s infrastructure awards are anticipated to be announced by December 2011.

Support for this action comes from Hawaii’s Congressional Delegation in a letter written May 9th and a letter written by Hawaii’s Council of Mayors written May 23rd.
