Maryland SRTS State Network
Maryland is one of twenty jurisdictions participating in the SRTS National Partnership Network Project. This initiative creates state networks that bring together advocacy groups, government agencies, and other leaders.

Maryland SRTS Federal Funding Maryland’s SRTS funding from FY2005-2009* totals $10,331,284 and includes the following annual apportionments:

* Funding for SRTS is being continued into FY2010 at FY2009 levels.
Application Guidelines In the 2010 application cycle, Maryland awarded $1,736,800.
Maryland plans on having a Grants Application Seminar in late April 2011 Pending reauthorization (date TBD) for their fifth round of funding. Once they have the seminar and receive applications (mid to late Summer 2010) they will be reviewed by a ten member panel. Once they make their recommendation and receive final approval to proceed the grants will begin January 1, 2011.
To date, Maryland has awarded fifty-nine SRTS grants. Fifteen of the grants covering FFY 05, 06, 07, sixteen for FFY08, thirteen for FFY09, and fifteen for FFY10.These grants are effective in January 2010.
Maryland brought on board a SRTS Grants Manager to assist in the financial management of the grants.
State Advisory Committee Though Maryland does not have an advisory committee, it does have a Grants Review Team. It includes members of the Maryland State Highway Offices of Traffic Safety and Traffic Engineering, Baltimore Area Council of Government, and the Maryland Department of Transportation/Bicycle Pedestrian Access.
Evaluation Methods Maryland requires applicants to submit data gathered using the National Center for Safe Routes to School Student Arrival and Departure Talley Sheet and Parent Survey. Maryland also utilizes a traffic enforcement form for law enforcement efforts.
