Oklahoma SRTS State Network
Oklahoma is one of ten jurisdictions participating in the SRTS National Partnership Network Project. This initiative creates state networks that bring together advocacy groups, government agencies, and other leaders.

Oklahoma SRTS Program
Managed by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), Oklahoma’s federally funded SRTS program is the source for state coordinator contact details, federal SRTS funding amounts, SRTS applications and guidelines, and state SRTS program information.

Oklahoma SRTS Federal Funding
Oklahoma’s SRTS funding totals $7,089,250 and includes the following annual apportionments:

Application Guidelines
Oklahoma's SRTS application is currently available.  The application deadline for Phase 1 was February 7, 2008.  Applicants must complete a SRTS Travel Plan and submit to ODOT for review by the deadline to be considered for infrastructure (engineering projects) or non–infrastructure (educational programs and activities) project funding. 

Phase II of the ODOT SRTS funding cycle is currently underway. ODOT had 41 approved travel plans for a total of $6.9 million. The Notice to Proceed was sent out in early March 2008. Final applications are due by June 7, 2008. The first Selection Committee meeting will be held on May 2, 2008  to educate committee members on the SRTS Program and the selection process.

The Review Committee is expected to select projects the first week of September 2008.  In November 2008, the selected projects will be submitted to the Oklahoma Transportation Commission for final approval and applicants will be notified.  In January 2009, contracts will be executed and a Notice to Proceed will be issued.

State Advisory Committee
The Oklahoma SRTS Advisory Committee was formed March 19, 2007. The Committee is comprised of representatives from: ODOT Traffic Engineer, ODOT Transportation Enhancement program, FHWA, Highway Safety, Department of Education, the three Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) for the state, the state Department of Health, and the Department of Public Safety.

State Outreach Programs
No statewide education, encouragement, and/or training programs are available at this time.

Evaluation Methods
Applicants are required to submit evaluation data using the National Center for Safe Routes to School Student Arrival and Departure Talley Sheet and Parent Survey.
