Application Guidelines Maryland's third round of SRTS applications is currently available. The application will be due April 30, 2008, and will be reviewed by the Grant Application Review Team the first week of June 2008. The dates for this grant period are tentatively set to run from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2010.
Maryland hosted a Grants Application Seminar on February 21, 2008 for existing and potential SRTS grantees.
To date, Maryland has awarded thirty-two SRTS grants. Seventeen of the grants covering FFY 05, 06, 07, and sixteen for FFY08. These grants are effective in February 2008.
Maryland brought on board a SRTS Grants Manager to assist in the financial management of the grants.

State Advisory Committee Though Maryland does not have an advisory committee, it does have a Grants Review Team. It includes members of the Maryland State Highway Offices of Traffic Safety and Traffic Engineering, Baltimore Area Council of Government, and the Maryland Department of Transportation/Bicycle Pedestrian Access.
Evaluation Methods Maryland requires applicants to submit data gathered using the National Center for Safe Routes to School Student Arrival and Departure Talley Sheet and Parent Survey. Maryland also utilizes a traffic enforcement form for law enforcement efforts.
