July 14, 2010: Local Host Sought for the 3rd SRTS National Conference
The National Center for Safe Routes to School and the Safe Routes to School National Partnership are now seeking proposals from potential host agencies to organize the 3rd SRTS National Conference, which would take place in August 2011. The deadline for proposal submissions is July 14. To download the complete request, please visit the RFP website. On June 23 from 1:00 - 2:30 EDT, a conference call will be offered to discuss and field questions surrounding this RFP. September 13, 2010 - Annual Meeting
The Safe Routes to School National Partnership is holding its Annual Meeting at the Pro Walk / Pro Bike® Conference on Monday, September 13, 2010 from 1PM - 5PM. The event will include an opportunity for partners to provide feedback on the draft 2011-2015 strategic plan. The event is free, but advance registration will be required as seating is limited. September 13-17, 2010 - PRO WALK/PRO BIKE® Conference
The National Center for Bicycling & Walking 16th Biennial Pro Walk / Pro Bike® Conference will be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee on September 13-17, 2010. The conference theme is “Bringing Livable Communities and Regions to Scale.” Chattanooga and the southeast region will serve up many examples of what can be done in small and mid-size cities and rural regions to make livable communities come to life. And in keeping with the Pro Walk / Pro Bike® big tent tradition we are inviting practitioners and advocates from coast to coast and around the globe to form geographically and experientially diverse teams to submit panel sessions and interactive workshops. Register today.
 
October 6, 2010 - International Walk to School Day
Registration is now open for Walk to School 2010, an international event where communities from over 40 countries join together to walk and bicycle to school. International Walk to School Day is Wednesday, October 6, 2010.

Please join The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center to Prevent Childhood Obesity and your colleagues in the field for our new webinar series "Keeping Kids Moving: How Equitable Transportation Policy Can Reverse Childhood Obesity." Webinars will be held every other week on Thursdays at 2pm ET.
 
February 3-5, 2011 - 10th Annual New Partners for Smart Growth: Building Safe, Healthy and Livable Communities
The Local Government Commission (LGC) announces that planning is underway for the 10th Annual New Partners for Smart Growth: Building Safe, Healthy and Livable Communities, to be held February 3 - 5, 2011 in Charlotte, NC. This conference focuses on a multi-disciplinary approach to implementing smart growth principles to help build safer, healthier, more economically viable, transit-oriented and pedestrian-friendly communities across the nation. Get more information here.
