Kathy Cooke
State Network Associate
kathy@saferoutespartnership.org

As our network coordinator, Kathy tracks key Safe Routes to School policy developments and success stories for the state network project, and collaborates with our state network director and technical assistance director on state level policy change through trainings, communication and promotion. On a full-time basis, Kathy helps manage the day-to-day operations of the learning network for all 50 states and DC as well as project communications, Web 2.0 and the tracking/reporting on progress of the networks.

In January 2010, Kathy Cooke helped launch the 2010 state network project with online and administrative tools that enhanced the way state network organizers managed and built their state policy networks to promote Safe Routes to School.

Prior to joining the National Partnership, Kathy held project management roles with Mercy Corps and with the U.S. General Services Administration. She volunteers regularly at her children’s middle school and with nonprofit groups such as Stand for Children and Volunteers of America Oregon that work in minority and low-income communities. A mom of two energetic boys, Kathy has gained valuable insight into the impact that bicycle safety education has on commuting to school.
