Funding

The Safe Routes to School National Partnership is hosted by the Bikes Belong Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All donations to the Partnership are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Those interested in more information about making a contribution should contact Deb Hubsmith, Director of the SRTS National Partnership at (415) 454-7430 or deb@saferoutespartnership.org.

We receive funding for our work from a variety of diverse sources.

Bikes Belong Coalition
Since our inception in 2005, Bikes Belong Coalition has provided generous grants for general operating support of the Safe Routes to School National Partnership.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
For 2010 and 2011, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has provided $1.5 million funding for the Safe Routes to School State Network Project.

SRAM Cycling Fund
SRAM Cycling Fund has provided $200,000 in 2009 for federal policy issues associated with the Safe Routes to School National Partnership.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has provided funding in 2010 to produce health resources related to Safe Routes to School.

Kaiser Permanente
Kaiser Permanente has provided $700,000 for 2010 and 2011 for the State Network Project.

Grants and Contracts
The Partnership is currently looking for funders for 2010 and 2011.

Cy Pres Awards
The Safe Routes to School National Partnership welcomes nominations for cy pres awards. Cy pres are funds in class action cases (and sometimes other types of proceedings like probate matters) that, for any number of reasons, cannot be distributed to the class members or beneficiaries who were the intended recipients. Typically, courts can distribute these residual funds to appropriate charitable causes, and the Partnership is an appropriate beneficiary. If you would like to nominate the Partnership as a beneficiary of a cy pres award, please contact Deb Hubsmith, (415) 454-7430.

Sponsorships
Corporations are invited to approach us about the possibility of sponsoring the Safe Routes to School National Partnership and any of our specific programs.

Partner Affiliates
Our partner affiliates are encouraged to donate on an annual basis to help support our work of advancing the SRTS national movement.

Individual Donations
Individual donations to the SRTS National Partnership are welcomed and are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
